Late Race Caution Ends Mingus’ Night at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 18, 2015) – Coming off a career-best finish at Kansas, Mason Mingus headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) for the N.C. Education Lottery 200 on Friday, May 15. The No. 15 NC 811/SC 811 Call Before You Dig Chevrolet Silverado was running 15th when a late-race caution ended Mingus’ night.

After not taking a time in the second round of qualifying due to a flat left-rear tire, the 20-year-old started 21st when the green flag dropped for 134 laps under the lights at CMS. Mingus battled a tight-handling truck at the start, but his Billy Boat Motorsports (BBM) crew was able to utilize the two pit-stops on laps 65 and 106 to help the No. 15 Chevy. With 20 laps to go, Mingus was spun on the backstretch running 15th to end his night early at CMS and ultimately finish 26th.

“We didn’t get the finish we wanted in Charlotte,” said Mingus. “The guys at BBM gave me a great truck and I feel like we could have come out with a solid finish if we hadn’t gotten wrecked at the end of the race. I can’t thank everyone at NC 811 and SC 811 enough for their support this past weekend.”

Next up for Mason Mingus and the No. 15 Call 811 Before You Dig Chevy is Dover International Speedway on Friday, May 29 at 5:30 pm ET airing live on Fox Sports 1.
